FESTIVAL PARK- ROANOKE ISLAND MANTEO, NC.
This is a great park tucked away in the very heart of Manteo, NC. Walk over a short bridge in downtown Manteo and you are on Roanoke Island and in this activity filled city park that is a “must” if you are visiting this quaint Outer Banks community. Famous for good seafood, The Lost Colony, Mother Vineyard, the Roanoke Island lighthouse, Andy Griffith’s home, and many other attractions, Manteo is a true gem for anyone exploring this beautiful Outer Banks area. Festival Park provides many year round activities and solid family entertainment. For me, it is a convenient and productive photography spot easily and quickly available from the downtown lodge where my wife and I frequently stay, especially in winter when the waterfowl are visiting from the north. From Manteo, it is a short trip to many other birding locations up and down the Banks. The shops and restaurants downtown are all in walking distance.
In Festival Park, there is a nice boardwalk along the sound offering shorebirds and waterfowl. Many species of woods birds reside in or visit the area. this is a good spot for migrating warblers in spring and fall. Check it out if you are in the area.!! See a few pics below from the Park.
