near Atlantic Beach, N.C. because, if you are a “Birder”, there is always something to see and you never know what each visit will bring. It is a naturally beautiful site which makes photography a pleasant and easy process . I visited the park a couple of times last week and was able to photograph several usual summer residents. At the freshwater pond along the trail, Black-crowned Night Herons, Green Herons, White Ibis, as well as Crows, Cardinals, and a variety of bright colored Dragonflies were present. Along the trail I was entertained by a mother Towhee feeding a recent fledgling who was out of the nest. I saw both a male and female Painted Bunting as well as House Finch . The Painted Buntings have been increasingly present here in the past few years. Also seen were Grackles, Brown-headed Cowbirds, and a Cottontail. Enjoy the pics!!
