PALMETTO BOARDWALK TRAIL--GOOSE CREEK STATE PARK, NC.

One of my favorite trails at Goose Creek State Park near Washington, NC is the Palmetto Board Walk Trail which begins just behind the Visitor’s Center. The trail meanders across an interesting freshwater marsh that contains a great variety of critters  and unusual scenery. It is only 1/2 mile long and is a very easy hike for young and old. What i enjoy here is being able to see and try to photograph so many different critters in such a condensed space. It is also a chance to experience a very different environment with an almost alien feel. Yesterday I spent the morning there and the time seemed to fly by--and I did not want to leave. Everywhere you look, there is something new to see! You can expect to see a good variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and some mammals including deer, raccoons, fox, opossum, nutria, and others.

This is a great place to take children to see so many creatures of nature. The pictures below represent photos taken along this trail, most of them yesterday and three taken on previous visits. Visi the Main Page for Goose Creek here. Enjoy the pics below.
