Many fish species were moving along the shoreline, with spot and flounder fishermen trying their luck in the surf. Glass minnows and finger mullet were thick and attracted Pelicans, Terns, Gulls, and Cormorants--all diving to grab their share. Plenty chances for photos! The back deck of our condo provided neat views of sunrises and sunsets.
While in the area, I had access to several of my favorite photography sites, including Fort Macon, Calico Creek , and Roosevelt Area Trail. I was able to visit each of these several times and the photos are included in the gallery below, along with some taken along the beach.
We also had the chance to visit a couple of new restaurants. A great new place at Emerald Isle, the Caribsea, and the Crabs Claw near the circle in Atlantic Beach which has been there about 18 years. Check out their menus and be sure to try them when you have a chance. Both are outstanding!!
This area of the beach in the fall is much more serene than the busy summer season--try it, you will like it!! See the photos from the trip in the gallery below.
