BOONE, N.C. GREENWAY.
Running along and crossing the South Fork of New River, and winding through an almost backcountry watershed in the middle of Boone, NC. is this beautiful nature trail. It is over 7 miles of forest, flower filled meadows, clear mountain streams, and mountain vistas. There are many species of birds and other critters such as Deer, fox, rabbits, raccoons, and others. The trail itself is made of either gravel or hard surface, and easily accommodates hikers, birders, and bikers, old and young. The trail if mostly flat with easy hills along the way. It is truly a family friendly trail. If you are in this area, and only take one trail, this should be it!!! This is an easy way to explore the beautiful scenery so characteristic of Wataugaa County and the Blue Ridge landscape. Gorgeous on a clear, cool day!!!
